The guidelines regarding selection of News Readers are as under:
1. Age : 25 – 40 years
2. Essential Qualification :
a) A Degree from a recognized University.
b) Proficiency in the language concerned (English or Malayalam)
c) Camera-friendly face, with a voice of a very good quality suited to broadcasting.
d) Correct pronunciation, accent and modulation.
e) Knowledge of current Regional / Indian and Foreign affairs.
f) Acquaintance with names of important personalities in the Region / India and abroad.
3. Preferable:
g) Journalism background.
h) Professional background in the fields of academic or related areas.
i) Experience with Television / Radio media.
4. Desirable:
j) Knowledge of English and Hindi.
k) Ability to interview people who matter in news.
l) Ability to write news stories and report events from the spots.
News Reporter:
The guidelines regarding selection of News Reporters are as under:
1. Essential:
i) Degree from recognized University.
ii) Degree or Diploma in Journalism from recognized University of Institution or failing that, two years’ experience in Journalism or two years’ experience of work in TV or Radio News.
iii) Acquaintance with national and international affairs.
iv) Ability to read, write and speak in both Malayalam & English.
2. Desirable:
i) Awareness of national and international affairs.
ii) Knowledge of English and Hindi for news reporting.
News Editor / News Correspondent:
The guidelines regarding selection of News Editor / News Correspondent are as
under:
1. Essential:
i) At least II class Degree from a recognized University
ii) Degree or Diploma in Journalism from a recognized institute
iii) 4 years’ experience of work relating to News in Broadcasting organization, reputed newspaper or news magazine office or news agency.
iv) Should have passed examination of Matriculation standard with Malayalam as one of the subjects or medium of instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who possess such linguistic knowledge of degree level.
2. Desirable:
i) Acquaintance with national / international affairs.
ii) Experience in visual Journalism
iii) Published work in reputed newspapers / journals in the language relevant to the vacancy.
